Print Resources

  • Use the Library Catalog. If you log in with your TylerSIS info, you can renew books and create a favorites list. 
  • There may not be a book that exactly matches your topic! If not, think broader. 
  • Be sure to take a look at a book about the decade you are researching. 
  • Each record in the catalog will provide a citation for that book. Copy and paste it into your Google Doc of other citations that will become your bibliography.​

Digital resources 

What is are databases & why do you need them? 

​Explora - The "student friendly" version of EBSCO. Contains wide variety of information. Can be accessed in-district without password. Go to SLCL databases for at home access. (County or City Library card needed) 
​Opposing Viewpoints - Access at school or at home with password (afftoncougars/afftoncougars)
EBSCO eBooks - Digital versions of print books. 
DIGITAL RESOURCES HELPFUL TIPS: 
  • Always check your spelling.
  • Opposing Viewpoints allows you to save article directly to your Google Drive. For the others, select "Print", then "save as .pdf" to your Google Drive. 
  • Always copy and paste citation onto a Google Doc. That will become your bibliography. 
  • When you find an awesome article, use the "Find Similar Results" option on the left to find articles that are equally awesome! 

Bibliography (works Cited) Resources 

  • ​OWL at Purdue provides examples of all types of MLA citations - internal and bibliography entries. 
  • Use the citation provided in the database article. Citation is often found at bottom of article. If not, use "citation" button on the right. 
  • AHS library catalog has a "Cite this title" option. Use it. 
  • Do a SUBJECT search to find similar books.
